Mainoo Relishes Progress Under Ten Hag at Man Utd

England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo expressed his satisfaction with the stability at Manchester United after Erik ten Hag confirmed he will remain as manager. Mainoo, who flourished under Ten Hag’s guidance, was given his first-team opportunity by the Dutchman.

Mainoo’s impressive debut season saw him score the decisive goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, leading to his inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024. Despite securing two trophies, Ten Hag’s position was uncertain after United finished eighth in the Premier League. However, Ten Hag announced on Sunday that the club has confirmed his stay for the next season.

“I’m thrilled to continue building under his leadership. He’s already secured two trophies, and I’m hopeful there’s more success ahead,” Mainoo shared with reporters at England’s training camp on Tuesday. “It’s reassuring to know who our manager will be. He’s shown immense trust and belief in me, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

Mainoo made his competitive debut for England in their 1-0 victory over Serbia on Sunday, coming off the bench late in the match. Looking ahead, England will face Denmark in Frankfurt on Thursday, where Mainoo anticipates playing against his Manchester United teammates Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen, who scored in Denmark’s 1-1 draw with Slovenia, continues to inspire following his recovery from a cardiac arrest during Euro 2020. “Rasmus and I are close, both being young players,” Mainoo said. “Christian has been a great mentor. His journey since the last Euros is incredible. If I play on Thursday, I’ll have to set all that aside and focus on the match.”
